Here's the wide version of the Opera Box view. Beautiful view of the Hickory Nut Gorge! When you enter the park, this is what you see. The rock with the American Flag flying on top.

I finally got to Chimney Rock this fall. It was at its peak color! This is the view from the Opera Box. You can see Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge area for miles and miles.

Overlook

On Highway 52, they have an overlook that you can drive on to view Pilot Mountain from a distance. The mountain really does just peak out of nowhere!

Autumn is early this year in North Carolina! If you want to see the mountains in color, make your plans earlier. This is Graveyard Fields on the Blue Ridge Parkway last week. (There's a waterfall in the shadows, in the middle of the image.)
